WWE Chairman Vince McMahon suspends CM Punk

Monday Night Raw’s abrupt conclusion last night was not due to technical difficulties. The decision to suddenly end the broadcast in that manner was made by WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, who gave this quote to WWE.com:

“CM Punk was suspended indefinitely for his unprofessional conduct as soon as Raw went off the air.”

With his WWE contract expiring on July 17, one can only assume that this suspension effectively terminates CM Punk’s tenure with WWE.

CM Punk is on the booking sheets for next week, main eventing a number of Smackdown house shows in a Four Way Cage match against World champion Kane, Edge and Big Show. The loop includes an event in Chicago, Punk’s hometown, which is likely why he is working the Smackdown side of things.

– CM Punk, who injured his lower back at WWE’s Bragging Rights pay-per-view, opted not to have surgery because a doctor told him he’d be able to rehab what’s believed to be a torn muscle tendon. Punk will be out of action until at least January, but will be healthy in time for WrestleMania season.
