Ezekiel Jackson wins the ECW Homecoming Finale’s Over-the-Top-Rope Challenge

Ezekiel Jackson was crowned homecoming king in the Land of the Extreme on Tuesday. The Guyanese Goliath bulldozed through his competition, eliminating seven Superstars to win the ECW Homecoming Finale’s Over-the-Top-Rope Challenge. Big Zeke earned himself No. 1 contendership, and will go on to face ECW Champion Christian at Royal Rumble.

Captain Charisma provided commentary at the ECW announce table as Jackson defeated former ECW Champions CM Punk, Matt Hardy and Kane, as well as Evan Bourne, Shelton Benjamin, Yoshi Tatsu and Vance Archer. Jackson even single-handedly eliminated the three former ECW Titleholders himself. But will Jackson prove to be as dominant a force on Jan. 31 when he faces ECW Champion Christian at Royal Rumble?

CM Punk interrupts ECW Champion Christian

At the beginning of the evening, ECW Champion Christian welcomed the WWE Universe to ECW on Syfy, and kicked off the night with his thoughts on the ECW Homecoming. But before Captain Charisma could further discuss who he thinks he’ll face at Royal Rumble, he was interrupted by CM Punk. SmackDown’s Second City Saint – and former ECW Champion – brought his crusade to the Land of the Extreme Tuesday night, stating his straightedge way of life will save the WWE Universe. He also claimed he’s going to win the ECW Homecoming and go on to become the Straightedge ECW Champion at Royal Rumble, a promise Christian quickly refuted.

CM Punk def. Mark Henry

SmackDown’s straightedge savior, CM Punk, who earlier in the night promised Christian he’d be challenging him to become the Straightedge ECW Champion, met fellow former ECW Champion, Mark Henry. The World’s Strongest Man seemed to feed off Punk’s kick-fueled attack with his offensive domination. But when Punk distracted the WWE official, his associate, Luke Gallows, kicked Henry in the head. Then, Punk capitalized with two more kicks to the head, knocking Henry to the ground and pinning him for the win. Punk moves on in the ECW Homecoming, but will he be the one to challenge Christian for the ECW Title at Royal Rumble?

CM Punk & William Regal def. ECW Champion Christian & R-Truth

Survivor Series opponents met on ECW on Syfy this week, as SmackDown’s CM Punk joined William Regal to take on the blue brand’s R-Truth and ECW Champion Christian. Punk & Regal – members of Team Orton at Survivor Series – earned the tag team victory. After R-Truth injured his leg during a kick to Regal, Christian attempted the Killswitch on Punk. But Regal retaliated with a running Knee Trembler, allowing Punk to capitalize and hit the ECW Champion with a devastating Go To Sleep. Christian & R-Truth enter Team Kingston at Survivor Series with a defeat, while Punk & Regal have the upper hand.

One week after a fast count by aggravated WWE official Scott Armstrong cost CM Punk his match against R-Truth, The Straightedge Superstar overcame the rapping Superstar with a little help from his surroundings. As R-Truth was escaping the GTS and attempting a counter pinfall, The Second City Saint suddenly dropped down upon him, clutching the ropes to secure his three-count, just outside the official’s view.

What effect will Punk’s victory have on the momentum of Team Kingston vs. Team Orton at Survivor Series?

CM Punk cut a backstage promo saying that him being a former member of ECW and going on to become the first ever three-time straight edge champion is the proudest moment in ECW history. His return tonight will be the loudest and longest ovation in ECW history.

Backstage, Punk called out Tiffany for drinking. She told him to lighten up and try it sometime. She then welcomed him back to ECW.

Christian and Punk were shown talking backstage. Christian asked if part of being straight edge means he can’t hold hands with a girl or if he has a curfew? He said his peeps in Philadelphia don’t call Punk straight edge, they call him a nerd. Punk said he was the first ever three-time straight edge champion. Christian responded, “You were a champion, but I still am,” and walked away.

C.M. Punk and William Regal defeated Christian and R-Truth. Punk came out to the loudest ovation of the night so far, which I expected from Philly. Christian and Truth hit stereo missile drop kicks early. Christian hit Regal with a dropkick through the ropes and Truth dove over the top rope and hit Punk with a crossbody.

Truth and Christian were on the offensive early, but Truth and Regal came back, working over Truth’s knee. Truth hot tagged Christian, who hit a tornado DDT on Punk for a near fall. Punk kicked out and hit a shining wizard on Christian. Christian came back and went for a Killswitch. However, behind the refs back, Regal hit the running knee and Punk followed up with the GTs for the pinfall. Truth sold his knee. Fun match.
