CM Punk was on Chicago’s B96 yesterday morning promoting the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. He said this would be his last match and he would then enjoy sitting on his couch. He joked that that he would be getting hit by cabs while riding his bike. He also said he’s a fan of Natalie Portman and would fight John Stamos.

CM Punk and Colt Cabana briefly reunited on the latest episode of Art of Wrestling Radio, which features an interview with Ring of Honor performer Chris Hero.
Punk appears early in the podcast to discuss his “little match on Sunday.” When asked if people should order the pay-per-view, Punk replied, “Yeah, they should. I get paid more that way.”

In the wrong hands, professional wrestling can be a boring thing indeed, a rinse-and-repeat cycle of predictable storytelling and zero-stakes feuds. For a few years now, World Wrestling Entertainment has spent much of its time in a lamentable rut, focusing much of its attention on central figure John Cena and his kid-friendly potty humor and square-jawed heroics. But over the past month or so, that’s been changing. Cena has a new foe: C.M. Punk, a tatted-up, fire-eyed, uncommonly erudite bad guy who thinks, and sometimes acts, like a good guy. But there’s a catch to that feud. It won’t last long, since Punk doesn’t expect to be in the company a week from now.
C.M. Punk is a wrestling veteran, a guy who kicked around the small-time independent scene for years before finally linking up with the WWE. Within the company, he’s had an impressive run: Three world championships, a few memorable speeches, a string of wonderful matches. But he’s never been the focal point of the company, despite being arguably its most gifted in-ring storyteller, and that’s always eaten at him. So, about a month ago, he announced on live TV that his contract was about to be up and that he would wrestle John Cena for the WWE title the night before leaving the company. That match would go down at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event, which comes to Chicago’s Allstate Arena on Sunday night.

WWE superstar CM Punk has told how standing up for himself almost got him the sack.
Punk is known for his outspoken views, which have often caused trouble backstage and got him in hot water with his bosses.
However, reflecting on a career that saw him start by wrestling in his garden as a teenager, the headliner said he wouldn’t change a thing.
Speaking to Fighting Spirit Magazine, Punk said: "For me the thing I’m most proud of — aside from being three-time heavyweight champion and winning Money In The Bank — is the fact that I started wrestling in my backyard when I was 15, and now I’m here.
"When a WWE PPV finished, I went to the backyard with my friends and we started trading blows with each other, just goofing off.
"I was CM Punk when I was rolling around with my friends in the backyard when I was 15, and now I’m CM Punk at WrestleMania XXVII fighting Randy Orton in front of 70,000 people.
"I’m also proud of getting there by doing things right by me, and by the business — even though those things nearly got me fired."

Though Stone Cold last wrestled at Wrestlemania 19 in 2003 and is instead concentrating on his acting career and hosting WWE Tough Enough, which premieres Monday night at 11 p.m. on the USA Channel directly after Monday Night RAW, he has gotten into a kind of war of words over Twitter with Punk this past week. The “feud” was sparked by the two of them facing off in a match as part of the new WWE All Stars video game from THQ, which is designed to create fantasy dream matches with the Superstars of today versus the WWE legends of the past. The verbal sparring over Twitter included Punk confidently predicting victory because his straight edge lifestyle was far better than Stone Cold’s beer drinking ways and Austin, who will be the special guest referee for the Michael Cole vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler match, telling Punk that he was “bringing some extra cans of whoop ass” to Atlanta.
At the question and answer session, Punk was asked by WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts what legendary opponent he would most like to face off against and Punk playfully asked if “Stunning Steve Austin was a legend?”, using Austin’s ring name from when he was in World Championship Wrestling in the 1990’s.
The Buffalo Bills’ Shawn Merriman is no stranger to public feuds. He’s traded shots with former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Jason Taylor and sued ex-girlfriend and reality TV star Tila Tequila. Now, the three-time NFL Pro-Bowler nicknamed “Lights Out” can add former World Wrestling Entertainment Champion CM Punk to his growing list of feuds.
It all began on Saturday when Punk, a Chicago resident and Lockport, Ill. native, tweeted “Watching Shawne Merriman of the Buffalo Bills hit on our divas and strike out. Reminds me of the Bills in the Super Bowl.” Merriman, who happened to be in Costa Rica at the same time as WWE’s Superstars and Divas, tweeted back “I was just giving you guys some hope. Look like you were struggling by the pool.”
WWE star C.M. Punk appeared on the 93X Half-Assed Morning Show on Thursday to hype Friday’s WWE live event in Minneapolis. The hosts recalled Punk working in the West St. Paul Armory over ten years ago. "I wrestled there, god, this is over ten years ago," Punk said. "I wrestled there once a month. The place was very kind to me."
The hosts asked Punk about his Chick Magnet persona. He said he and his friends would get pumped up watching WWE pay-per-views that they went out in the backyard and wrestled. "That’s actually how I got into wrestling, Punk said. "I didn’t know of any wrestling schools or being trained or anything like that… It was the equivalent of me wanting to host a radio show and talking into tape recorder or something like that. I just went out and did it."
Punk said he didn’t get a lot of support when he started in the business. He said it was hard to explain going to wrestle a show in Indiana at a bar in front of two people and not getting paid for it. "That’s what you do to pay your dues," Punk said.
One of the hosts put over the storylines and how great they’ve always been. Punk laughed and said, "Well, I wouldn’t go that far," which drew big laughs from longtime wrestling fan and show host Nick Born.

The biggest names in the WWE go to the mat Monday night at Joe Louis Arena for “Monday Night Raw!” The tattoo-laden CM Punk will be there, to avenge losses at Wrestlemania 23, and one last year at the Joe which cost him his hair.
But he’s ready for revenge — and he says he has a submission hold to back him up.
“Mine’s actually called ‘go to sleep,’ Punk told WWJ’s Scott Ryan. “I pick a guy up in a fireman’s carry, throw him over my head, and knee him in the face on my way down,” he said.
Punk, whose real name is Philip Brooks, prides himself on a clean way of living, which he says is important because he’s idolized by kids.
“I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t do drugs. I kick people in the face for a living. So, if that’s something you’re into — if you like watching people get kicked in the face — come see me. I’ll probably be your favorite wrestler,” he said.
He’ll battle wrestler John Cena Monday. The matches start at 8:15 p.m.

WWE Superstar CM Punk returns to the wrestling ring in Chicago
By GeekToMe on 12.23.10 at 11:45 PM
On Sunday, December 26th, 2010, the WWE will be returning to the Allstate Arena for the Smackdown Tour; this event, featuring the superstars of the WWE’s Smackdown roster, will be headlined by a four-way steel cage match featuring World Heavyweight Champion Edge, Kane, The Big Show, and Chicago-native Phillip Brooks, AKA C.M.Punk.
After spending some time away from the squared circle recovering from an injury, C.M. Punk returned to the WWE as a color commentator on RAW. He then surprised wrestling fans by calling out, then taking a steel chair to the back of fellow superstar John Cena.
In advance of his first match back in the WWE, I spoke to C.M. Punk from his home here in Chicago. We spoke about what it’s like to do color commentary with Jerry "The King" Lawler and Michael Cole; why he wore a Colt Cabana shirt his first day back on television; and who his favorite comic-book writer is:
Geek To Me: How are you doing sir?
CM Punk: I’m good. How are you?
G2M: I’m good. Actually, I’ve been meaning to talk to you for a while now. A while back I did an interview with Scott Goldman aka Colt Cabana -
CMP: Ah yes.
G2M: Funny, guy. Great guy. And shortly after that I had one of your fans write to me and ream me out saying why am I not giving CM Punk some attention, he’s a local guy. And I said "okay, okay I’ll do it." It’s not like I can just pick up the phone and call you, y’know?
CMP: [Laughs]
G2M: So, first question: how are you feeling? How’s the comeback been?
CMP: I feel lovely. The comeback is going well. Obviously I’ve picked probably the biggest superstar to smack with a steel chair, so it should be interesting.
