Triple H & CM Punk vs. The Miz & R-Truth

The Miz and R-Truth are once again legally contracted WWE Superstars and will face off against WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H – the man who fired them – and his partner CM Punk – the man who insulted The Game and his entire family.

We’ve always said anything can happen in WWE and this match proves it!

Ironically, The Second City Savior leaving with the WWE Championship at SummerSlam in July started a domino effect of anarchy that ultimately led to the WWE Board of Directors relieving Mr. McMahon of his day-to-day duties as WWE Chairman and appointing Triple H as Chief Operating Officer of WWE.

Punk was no easier for The Game to manage than he was for Mr. McMahon to manage. The war of words between CM Punk and Triple H escalated exponentially on a weekly basis. Their mutual animosity came to a head at Night of Champions when the COO traded in his suit and tie for his tights and boots to try and silence the self-proclaimed “Voice of The Voiceless” at Night of Champions.

Alberto Del Rio def. John Cena and CM Punk in a Triple Threat Hell in a Cell Match (New WWE Champion)

NEW ORLEANS – Destiny (and chaos) once again smiled on Alberto Del Rio, who ventured into “Hell” for the first time this Sunday and attained his second WWE Championship. The Mexican Aristocrat overcame both CM Punk and defending titleholder John Cena in an epic Triple Threat Hell in a Cell encounter, but his monumental triumph inside Satan’s Structure was arguably eclipsed not only by the controversial circumstances of his victory but by the frenzied aftermath of the match itself.

All three these competitors put forth an impressive effort as they vied for WWE’s grandest prize in the most barbaric of environments, but it was The Mexican Aristocrat who emerged from this career-threatening encounter with the WWE Championship after nailing Punk with a steel pipe. However, none of these battle-tested ring warriors anticipated the brutality that former WWE Superstars The Miz and R-Truth had in store for each of them and the entire WWE Universe after the bout.

By: Stephen Fiorentine | September 29, 2011

Earlier this week, a WWE.com article ordained Alberto Del Rio as the favorite for this Sunday’s first-ever Triple Threat Hell in a Cell Match, citing The Mexican Aristocrat’s sheer cunning as the reason. (FULL STORY)

Del Rio’s two opponents, WWE Champion John Cena and former champion CM Punk, beg to differ.

“I think you reporters are quite ill-informed. I’m actually quite cunning, and so is CM Punk,” retorted the reigning WWE Champ.

Expanding on the Hell in a Cell comments that he made in a WWE.com exclusive video, The Second City Saint emphatically shot down the notion as well – questioning whether WWE.com has actually been watching WWE programming. “[Del Rio’s] not the most cunning of the three of us, and he sure doesn’t have the advantage,” he said.

Both Superstars were quick to point out Del Rio’s lack of experience inside Satan’s Structure, whereas each Cena and Punk have each experienced firsthand the caustic chaos that is Hell in a Cell. Then again, they also lost their first forays into Hell against Randy Orton and The Undertaker, respectively. And despite Del Rio’s brutal actions this past Monday on the Raw SuperShow, Punk wouldn’t waver in his observation.

“He’s never been in the Cell,” he repeated, “and he’s not going to have his announcer, Ricardo [Rodriguez], in there with him.”

Interestingly, neither Punk nor Cena stated that either of them held the advantage over the other going into Sunday’s showdown. The only thing Cena would admit was to feeling at a disadvantage entering The Devil’s Playground as the reigning WWE Champion.

“There are a lot of positives about being a challenger, but not many positives about being the champion any time you’re in in a Triple Threat Match,” Cena observed. “The fact that this Sunday will be the first-ever Triple Threat Match inside Hell in a Cell certainly adds to the uncertainty awaiting us in the ring. The truth is, no one knows how this kind of match will play out within the restricting walls of the Cell; it eliminates any possibility of determining a favorite for Sunday night.”

WWE Championship Triple Threat Hell in a Cell Match

Over the course of his 10 reigns as WWE Champion, John Cena has come to learn many of the hardships that come with holding that coveted title, but The Champ has never dealt with anything quite like this. For the first time in the brutal history of the Hell in a Cell Match, three Superstars will enter the unforgiving steel structure for a dangerous Triple Threat bout — and Cena’s WWE Championship will be on the line.

Two weeks after defeating Alberto Del Rio to win the title at Night of Champions, Cena will once again lock up with the underhanded Mexican Aristocrat, but this time the controversial CM Punk will be a part of the mayhem.

WWE COO Triple H def. CM Punk (No Disqualification Match)

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Superstars, Divas, consultants and all others can stow their résumés for the time being. At Night of Champions, WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H trounced the ambitions of would-be successors as he defeated CM Punk to maintain his spot as top executive in WWE, thanks to the man terminated by The Game weeks ago: Kevin Nash.

But it’s really not that easy.

Like the rest of the WWE Universe, the anti-establishment “Voice of the Voiceless” may be speechless right now after falling to said establishment in a No Disqualification Match that ultimately favored The Game by making Nash’s Jackknife Powerbomb (and unexpected attack on Triple H, himself) plainly legal. Given the rules of the match, it was all fair game, including the disruption of The Miz & R-Truth, whose attack on the combatants opened the flood gates to sheer chaos.

The collective of conspiracy theorists were already likely to face great consequences after a losing effort to WWE Tag Team Champions Air Boom and subsequent heinous assault on a WWE official at the start of the evening. Citing a supposed plot by the COO, the duo struck, most aggressively against both Triple H and his foe. Satisfied with their work, the pair then laid a prone Punk on top of a razed Game, but when the pinfall failed, Miz and Truth once again physically assaulted a WWE referee – this time Scott Armstrong, whose single punch to The Awesome One’s jaw signaled the next layer of anarchy.

No. 8: CM Punk Shocks the World
by Michael Burdick

It has been said that “words have more power than atomic bombs.” Perhaps no Superstar has proven this truth as effectively as CM Punk. After years of success while operating within the confines of the WWE system, The Second City Saint used rhetoric to break from the pack in epic fashion. Dubbing himself The “Voice of the Voiceless,” Punk utilized his pipebomb microphone and rebellious spirit to gain unprecedented acclaim, driving him far away of the good graces of the WWE brass and earning the No. 8 of the “List This!: WWE Legends of the Fall.”

When June of 2011 rolled around, it seemed CM Punk had already done it all. He stood as a two-time Mr. Money in the Bank, a three-time World Heavyweight Champion as well as an Intercontinental, ECW and World Tag Team Champion. He had guided both The New Nexus and The Straight Edge Society to new heights in dominating fashion. However, nothing gained him as much praise or propelled him into the upper echelon of WWE greatness as when he decided to condemn those in charge with his silver-tongued revolution of change.

Is The Game ready to play at Night of Champions?
September 1, 2011

Triple H competed in one high-profile televised match this year – against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVII – and he lost.

Despite his Hall of Fame-caliber resume, The Cerebral Assassin will be out of his element at Night of Champions September 18. No one will ever question his in-ring abilities, but in his new role as Chief Operating Officer of WWE, Triple H is treading in unfamiliar waters. Even The Game himself has admitted that he’s learning his new role day-by-day. Although a return to the ring should be effortless for a Superstar of his pedigree, the fact remains that Triple H is more than just an in-ring competitor. His plate isn’t just full – it’s spilling over, what with his corporate duties, his oversight of Superstars and his management of a billion-dollar business. All of these stressors, as well as The Game’s pride and desire to defend his family’s honor, are easy targets for CM Punk to exploit.

Speaking of Punk, he’s the first Superstar since “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to incite such a tidal wave of line-blurring upheaval – not just across WWE, but the entire media world. Punk is the hottest commodity in entertainment today – no exaggeration. “Cocky” and “confident” only begin to define the Straight Edge Superstar whose new attitude gives him a clear advantage against Triple H. Punk doesn’t care if he’s fired. Yes, he loves the WWE Universe, but he’ll do whatever it takes to win at Night of Champions, no matter the repercussions. Once upon a time, Triple H could afford to be unconscionable. Now, he has a Board of Directors to answer to.

More concerning for Triple H than anything else, though, is Punk’s record during the past nine months. It’s been spectacular. He’s notched wins over Rey Mysterio and John Cena, for the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank, no less. Even in his losses, Punk has proven himself to be a redoubtable adversary. He’s ready. He’s capable. And, despite Triple H’s COO title and corporate standing, Punk is in charge.

If history has taught us anything, it’s that The Game always carries an ace up his sleeve. But, if any opponent is in a position to best that hand, it’s the man with the aces tattooed on his arm.

CM Punk vs. Triple H

CM Punk’s fervent quest for answers will lead him to an intense confrontation with WWE’s Chief Operating Officer at Night of Champions, where The Straight Edge Superstar battles 13-time World Champion Triple H.

Competing in the ring for the first time since his cataclysmic encounter with The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVII in April, The King of Kings would have at one time admired Punk’s anti-authority attitude. However, trading in his D-Generation X gear for a sharply pressed suit and tie, the outlaw-turned-executive intends to silence the self-proclaimed “voice of the voiceless” after months of mouthing off.

Even though Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship victory at The Biggest Event of the Summer was the result of some questionable officiating by The King of Kings himself, The Second City Savior nevertheless basked in the adulation of his screaming fans at the STAPLES Center after defeating fellow WWE Champion John Cena to become the sole bearer of the illustrious prize. Yet, the self-proclaimed “voice of the voiceless” was soon viciously silenced by The Game’s longtime friend Kevin Nash, who charged the ring and laid out Punk with his iconic Jackknife Powerbomb, a maneuver that has destroyed many a foe during the 7-foot former WWE Champion’s storied in-ring career.
