A Closer Look at the Superstars in SmackDown’s World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match

There are leaders, and there are followers. Punk has undeniably proven himself to be the former. As spiritual guide of the Straight Edge Society, the self-righteous Superstar must be motivated knowing that should he emerge victorious, the win will only inspire more adherents to his cause.
Need more motivation? Punk will be competing against Chris Jericho, the man who won The Straight Edge Superstar’s World Heavyweight Title in a 2008 Championship Scramble Match after Punk was incapacitated just minutes before the bout.
In his only experience competing inside the Elimination Chamber at 2006’s December to Dismember, Punk failed to make an impact and found himself the first Superstar eliminated.

WWE NXT set to debut on Syfy
STAMFORD – World Wrestling Entertainment and Syfy today announced the next generation of reality television with the debut of WWE NXT, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 10:00 PM ET/PT on Syfy.
WWE NXT is a hybrid live event/reality show featuring eight well-known, popular WWE Superstars mentoring eight WWE “Rookies.” These Rookies, who are learning the ropes, are athletes who epitomize pop culture and personify strong attributes – they are opinionated and aggressive – which means inherent conflict between Rookies and other Rookies, conflict between Rookies and Pros, as well as, conflict between Pros and Pros. The trials and tribulations of the WWE NXT cast ensure action-packed, innovative entertainment – WWE Style.
“Once again, WWE will bring something entirely new to the television landscape as WWE meets reality TV,” said Vince McMahon, Chairman and CEO, World Wrestling Entertainment. “As we introduce this brand new franchise exclusively on Syfy, WWE NXT will have a completely different look and feel from our other WWE television programming.”

World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match Preview

At WWE Elimination Chamber, the World Heavyweight Championship will be up for grabs in one of two treacherous main event matches that share the inaugural pay-per-view’s name. But the six SmackDown Superstars involved will be fighting for more than glory, or even the title. They will be fighting to headline WrestleMania.
World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker will put his World Title on the line against CM Punk, John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, and Chris Jericho, each of whom won their qualification matches just five nights after the Royal Rumble.
The WWE Elimination Chamber is one of the most punishing structures ever conceived by man. Every square inch of the steel menace is a career-threatening accident waiting to happen.
Even a legend like The Demon of Death Valley steps into the vicious structure with the odds stacked against him, as any of his five opponents can capture his coveted “holy grail” without directly eliminating the ominous champion.
Only two spots remain in the Over-the-Top Rope Challenge. Next week former ECW Champions Chavo Guerrero, Mark Henry and CM Punk will return to the Land of the Extreme to compete in ECW Homecoming Qualifying Matches. Which Superstars will earn their chance to compete for the ECW Title?

Team Kingston vs. Team Orton (Traditonal Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match)
On Raw, Kofi Kingston has proven time and time again that he is one of the most exciting young ring warriors in WWE, and is truly a Superstar to watch. But in our nation’s capital, he’ll have one of the biggest matches of his career as he and his team go up against the squad of Randy Orton in a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match.
Though Orton may be more experienced than Kingston, the athletic Superstar has shown in recent weeks that he has exactly what it takes to hit The Viper where it hurts. As retaliation for Orton viciously attacking him after a match, Kingston sought out his nemesis’ personalized NASCAR racer and defaced it while The Legend Killer looked on, helpless to stop the automotive carnage. The two’s rivalry then expanded during a Six-Man Tag Team Match on Raw when Kingston and Orton were joined by fellow Survivor Series combatants, MVP & Mark Henry and Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, respectively.
In addition to R-Truth on the side of Kingston and the devious CM Punk teaming up with Orton, two of the top competitors in the Land of the Extreme, ECW Champion Christian and William Regal are also joining the fray. For months, The British Brawler has struggled to get the upperhand against Captain Charisma, and he might just have that chance when he joins up with Team Orton to face the ECW Champion and the rest of Team Kingston in a 10-Man Tag Team Match.
Don’t miss the epic confrontation between Team Kingston (Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry, ECW Champion Christian & R-Truth) and Team Orton (Randy Orton, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase & William Regal) at the 23rd annual Survivor Series on Nov. 22, at 8/7 CT, live on pay-per-view.
