CM Punk encourages Darren Young

On Tuesday’s WWE NXT, CM Punk and his Straight Edge Society associates persuaded Rookie Darren Young to become a part of their group. The Pro pointed out that Young’s win last week came with the Society’s support, and that he should be more open to new ideas, because with a little help and guidance, Straight Edge can make anyone a winner.

Rey Mysterio def. Luke Gallows

Before the match, CM Punk encouraged Luke Gallows to get the win and earn some payback for Mysterio keeping Punk out of WrestleMania for interfering in his Money in the Bank Qualifying Match last week. Despite Punk’s words, Gallows failed his Straight Edge savior by getting pinned by Mysterio. After the bout, Punk tried to hit Mysterio with the Go to Sleep. But he too failed to get the better of The Master of the 619. Punk was seething at the outcome.

Darren Young def. David “A-List” Otunga

On last Tuesday’s debut edition of WWE NXT, Darren Young suffered a quick loss to the imposing and confident David Otunga due in part to a lack of guidance from Young’s WWE Pro, CM Punk. This week, however, the South Beach party boy got a helping hand from The Straight Edge Savior and his loyal followers, Serena & Luke Gallows.

While the impressive Rookies battled evenly in the early goings of the match, Young was given a window of opportunity after Punk grabbed Otunga’s leg. With the red carpet Rookie distracted, the powerful Young slammed his opponent to the mat and scored his first win on WWE NXT. Frustrated with his loss, Otunga shoved his WWE Pro, R-Truth, after the match.

Shelton Benjamin def. CM Punk in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifying Match

Rey Mysterio cost CM Punk his chance at this year’s WrestleMania Money in the Bank Ladder Match. When a potentially interfering Luke Gallows jumped up on the ring apron, The Masked Superstar emerged to yank him back off. This distracted The Second City Saint long enough for The Gold Standard to hit PayDirt. The victory made Benjamin the third member of SmackDown to qualify for an opportunity at the Money in the Bank briefcase when WrestleMania hits Phoenix March 28.

David Otunga def. Darren Young

NXT Rookie David “A-List” Otunga brought his A-game to the WWE NXT premiere, picking up his first win in front of the WWE Universe. Under the guidance of his WWE Pro, R-Truth, Harvard Law graduate Otunga defeated Darren Young, who had an ornery CM Punk, Luke Gallows and Serena in his corner. The confident, charismatic and strong Otunga took just minutes to impressively defeat South Beach party boy Young. But the WWE Universe is left to wonder how Young will fare in WWE NXT when his Pro, Punk, is less than excited to mentor the NXT Rookie, that is, unless he’s ready to join the Straight Edge Society.

Chris Jericho wins Elimination Chamber Match (New World Heavyweight Champion)

ST. LOUIS – In a shocking upset, Chris Jericho outlasted five elite SmackDown Superstars to become a six-time World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Elimination Chamber. But, his victory wasn’t simply a case of Jericho being “the best in the world at what he does.” Ultimately, his triumph came with some shocking “Heartbreak,” in the form of HBK.

Nonetheless, Jericho overcame tremendous odds to capture the World Championship inside Satan’s Structure, outlasting not only the legendary Undertaker, but also John Morrison, CM Punk, R-Truth and Rey Mysterio. And the career-threatening match proved to be a brutal battle from the moment CM Punk locked horns with R-Truth at the opening bell. Though The Second City Saint had spent a great deal of energy talking down to his opponents before the match started, he wasted no time defeating the high-octane rapping Superstar with the GTS before Rey Mysterio could even enter the Chamber at No. 3. However, The Master of the 619 – who has a tremendous score to settle with Punk for the back to back assaults he has endured on SmackDown – returned the favor by pinning Punk with a splash before Jericho could enter at No. 4.

John Morrison entered at No. 5, immediately engaging both his adversaries with absolute electricity; creating a fast-paced trifecta of pain that eventually ended with The Guru of Greatness pinning Mysterio with Starship Pain.

CM Punk & Luke Gallows def. R-Truth & John Morrison

After John Morrison landed a kick to the steel ring post – instead of intended target CM Punk – The Friday Night Delight was reeling in pain. Seizing the opportunity, Punk went to work on Morrison’s ankle. With Morrison injured, the ref stopped the bout, calling for the bell. However, Punk continued to go after the former Intercontinental Champion. Mayhem then broke loose when R-Truth came to the rescue, followed by Rey Mysterio. Next, Luke Gallows got involved, destroying Truth with the Gallows Pole. In the end, The Straight Edge Society left only carnage in its wake. On Sunday, Punk and Truth will cross paths again in the Elimination Chamber
