MVP def. Luke Gallows

When “The Anti-Diva” Serena leaped up on the ring apron, she distracted MVP from executing the climatic Playmaker on Luke Gallows. Seconds later, Rey Mysterio jumped out of the crowd and attacked CM Punk, mimicking the attacks he has suffered from a mysterious hooded stranger in recent matches with The Second City Saint. This commotion allowed MVP to finish off Gallows with The Play of the Day.

After the match, an irate Punk called Mysterio out as a “coward.” The masked Superstar emerged to challenge him to a rematch at Over the Limit and the “savior” readily accepted. If Rey loses the showdown, he must take the Straight Edge pledge. If Punk loses, Rey Mysterio will personally shave his head.

Mysterio then offered to forgo the match and take the pledge immediately if Punk would shave his head right then and there. When Punk refused, a slight glimpse of doubt seemed apparent on the faces of Punk’s normally loyal disciples

CM Punk confronts Darren Young

During last week’s Seal the Deal Challenge, NXT Rookie Darren Young tried to convince the WWE Universe to purchase WWE merchandise so he’d be able to face his own WWE Pro, CM Punk. But Young’s bold words weren’t what Punk and the Straight Edge Society wanted to hear.

Rey Mysterio & MVP def. CM Punk & Luke Gallows

Making his return to SmackDown as a result of the 2010 WWE Draft, MVP interrupted The Straight Edge Society, claiming that he was ‘saving” the WWE Universe from having to listen to them anymore. After going on a straight-up ballin’ attack, The Franchise Playa was joined in battle by Rey Mysterio. The assault prompted SmackDown GM Teddy Long to make a tag team match between the two teams.

Mysterio and MVP ultimately overcame CM Punk and Luke Gallows with an explosive 619-305 combination. But after the bell, the “unknown stranger” that helped The Second City Saint beat The Master of the 619 at Extreme Rules, appeared again and launched another hit-and-run assault on the masked Superstar.

CM Punk def. Evan Bourne; Big Show drafted to SmackDown

CM Punk, still clinging to his greasy locks, had narrowly escaped the follicular homicide at Extreme Rules with an underhanded assist when Serena, Luke Gallows and a masked mystery man helped him defeat Rey Mysterio. During Raw, the holier-than-thou leader employed his followers again, including the mystery man, in his fervent attempt to down Evan “Air” Bourne and give SmackDown another pick in the Draft. For their second pick in the Draft, the blue brand selected Big Show.

CM Punk d. Rey Mysterio

BALTIMORE – Thanks to shocking interference from an unknown ally of The Straight Edge Society, CM Punk reigned supreme over Rey Mysterio at Extreme Rules. His victory, allowing The Second City Saint to keep his hair, makes a strong statement for Straight Edge “superiority.”

The high-powered intensity of the WrestleMania rematch between Mysterio and Punk – along with the WWE Universe’s extreme hatred for the SES – kept the capacity crowd glued to the edge of their seats from start to finish. Though the odds where stacked against Mysterio from the opening bell, it looked as if the playing field would be leveled when the official ejected Luke Gallows and Serena from ringside, suspecting outside interference. But, just when it seemed like Mysterio might dial up the 619, an unidentified “stranger” appeared, assaulting the unsuspecting Superstar, before disappearing under the ring. This set up Punk for the GTS and the victory that saved his hair.

Punk’s quest to overcome Mysterio was seeded in proclamations he made long before their Extreme Rules showdown. Weeks before, Punk had claimed that converting the masked Superstar to Straight Edge would be the ultimate victory for his society. It was this idea that acted as an explosive catalyst for their monumental battle at WrestleMania.

On The Grandest Stage of Them All, The Master of the 619 triumphed over his preaching adversary, defending his family’s honor while preventing his forced induction into The Straight Edge Society.

Punk continued his obsessive attempts to “save” the masked Superstar, proclaiming on SmackDown that if he was granted a rematch, he would put the “toxin-free” symbol of his Straight Edge leadership – his hair – on the line.

Mysterio accepted Punk’s challenge for a WrestleMania rematch one week later, vowing to take his hair and to put an end to The Straight Edge Society. However, The Ultimate Underdog had no way of knowing that his scheming adversary would have a mysterious ace up his sleeve.

What will the Straight Edge Society’s next big move be to convert someone into the Straight Edge lifestyle? And what part, if any, will Punk’s unknown accomplice play in the weeks to come?

CM Punk & Luke Gallows def. Rey Mysterio & Kane

CM Punk and his loyal disciples – Luke Gallows and Serena – brandished a barber’s chair at ringside, promising to induct a new follower into The Straight Edge Society and shave his head.

Their explosive match with Rey Mysterio and Kane was intense from beginning to end. As Gallows and The Big Red Monster brawled outside the ring, The Master of the 619 propelled himself off the ropes, directly at The Second City Saint. When Punk caught him in mid-air and tried to execute the Go to Sleep, Mysterio countered, trying to pull his opponent down to the canvas for the pin. But, the resourceful Punk kept his balance, dropping down onto Mysterio’s shoulders for the quick victory.

Although Mysterio was unable to dial up the 619, he did kick Punk into the barber’s chair after the match. However, before he could continue the hair cut he had started to give Punk on Raw, Serena jumped in between them and allowed her “savior” to escape.

Will CM Punk get his hair shaved off at Extreme Rules?

Darren Young def. Skip Sheffield and Michael Tarver

Tired of being overlooked by the WWE Pros and the WWE Universe, NXT Rookie Michael Tarver proclaimed himself a “bulldog off the leash” and offered an open challenge to anyone in the WWE NXT locker room. This came after an angry Tarver refused to compete in the weekly NXT Rookie Challenge, and “dance on a balloon like a little monkey for your entertainment.”

Hoping to impress his WWE Pro, William Regal, who was stuck in Europe due to the Icelandic volcano eruption, NXT Rookie Skip Sheffield accepted the dare. Then, WWE Pro CM Punk offered his NXT Rookie, Darren Young, who earned a huge victory over Luke Gallows last week.

Clearly still troubled by his loss to Young, the Straight Edge Society’s Luke Gallows tried to interfere in the Triple Threat Match. His efforts to sabotage Young backfired, as the South Beach party boy pinned Tarver. With the victory, Young’s record increased to 6-2 – the highest of any NXT Rookie after week nine, while Sheffield’s dropped to 0-5 and Tarver’s fell to 0-6.
