WWE titleholder C.M. Punk did not appear at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla on Saturday night; rather, Punk made an unannounced appearance at an AAW show in Berwyn, Ill.
Punk’s appearance was set up by his close friend, Colt Cabana, who cut a promo complementing independent wrestler Gregory Iron for overcoming cerebral palsy to become a wrestler.
Cabana then went backstage and brought out Punk, who was dressed in street clothes similar to his appearance at the Comic-Con Convention in San Diego on Thursday.
Punk, who did not have the WWE Title belt with him appearing in front of the audience, followed Cabana’s lead endorsing Iron and thanked him for being an inspiration.
There was speculation Punk would appear at Saturday night’s PWG show in the Los Angeles area after being two hours away at Comic-Con this week. PWG played into that by starting the PWG 8 show asking the audience if they expected Punk to appear. After the crowd popped, PWG commissioner Excalibur got laughs telling the crowd they’re the biggest marks in the world.

CM Punk invaded Comic-Con, mocking Triple H and WWE

It seems that the de facto holder of the WWE Championship and former WWE Superstar CM Punk is not done poking a stick at his previous place of business
Thursday morning, during Mattel’s WWE panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, the ex-WWE Superstar reemerged with the WWE Title still in his possession, strolling into a conference room where Triple H, Hall of Famer Bret “Hit Man” Hart and Rey Mysterio were answering questions.
Punk promptly began to ridicule Triple H – the very Superstar and WWE executive who recently relieved Mr. McMahon of his leadership duties as WWE Chairman on Monday Night Raw.
Punk’s mocking led to an intense verbal confrontation between Punk and Triple H. When Punk asked the subject of his scorn, “how’s life in Fantasy Land?” Triple H responded, “how’s the unemployment line?”
