The Day After Raw: What You Thought
By: Craig Tello | September 13, 2011

The clock ticks down to the prestigious Night of Champions pay-per-view and the WWE Universe is reeling from the turbulent showdown between CM Punk and WWE Chief Operating Officer Triple H in their last face-to-face encounter before words make way for fists, Pedigrees and any other weaponry in their No Disqualification Match.

It’s the day after Raw, “ninja.” Let’s see what you thought …

What was Punk going to say?
It seems – at least for now – that we’ll never know what words were ready to slip from CM Punk’s mouth in the closing moments of Monday’s WWE Raw SuperShow. Why was The "Voice of the Voiceless" cut off? Who pulled the plug? What was going to be so satisfying on Sunday, according to Punk?

“The time to slay The Game is long overdue.” “Because Stephanie and I are in love.” “Because, Triple H, I’m your father.” “Help computer.” Some WWE fans believe Punk was on the verge of announcing that he could be taking over the operations throne. These are all solidly wild guesses but, frankly, shots in the dark. Whatever vile, smarmy comment Punk prepared to project forth, it was gunning for The Game’s throat – much like he’ll be in the squared circle this Sunday at Night of Champions.

Maybe once all is said and done in their No Disqualification Match, The Straight Edge Superstar will pick up the mic and finish the statement he started to utter on Monday … that is, if he can survive The Cerebral Assassin.

Triple H and CM Punk faced off before Night of Champions

Technical difficulties, audio problems, microphone malfunctions. Whatever you call it, CM Punk couldn’t seem to get a word in edgewise as he and Triple H engaged in a combustible verbal confrontation. The Second City Savior’s microphone suddenly shorted out just as he was about to express something he’d been dying to say to The Game. The scenario was reminiscent of Punk’s now famous diatribe against Triple H, Mr. McMahon and WWE when his mic also quit in the run up to SummerSlam.

A livid Punk cast his suspicions on WWE’s Chief Operating Officer, who had a working microphone in his hand. After watching one mic go belly up, The Game offered The Second City Savior his mic. Just as he revved up his verbal engine, though – you guessed it – the second mic failed on him as well. Triple H summoned a third mic from ringside and handed it over. Punk, however, used it to clobber The King of Kings before leaving the ring. While WWE’s COO seethed inside the square circle, his antiestablishment rival scowled back at him from the entrance ramp. The very personal animus between Punk and Triple H, who must resign as COO if he loses Sunday, is primed to blow in a No Disqualification Match at Night of Champions.

Ottawa’s WWE fans getting Punked
By Tim Baines | September 12, 2011

When CM Punk grabbed the microphone on June 27 in Las Vegas, he would send a huge ripple through a world where athleticism and theatrics collide.

Punk delivered a work of brilliance, ripping WWE and its owner Vince McMahon, threatening to leave with one of the company’s championship belts.

With John Cena beaten down and laying in the ring, Punk said: “You’re as good at kissing Vince McMahon’s ass as Hulk Hogan was.”

Score one for Punk, who continued: “Vince McMahon is a millionaire who should be a billionaire … he’s surrounded himself with gladhanding nonsensical yes men … And I’d like to think that this company would be better after Vince McMahon’s dead, but the fact is it’s going to get taken over by his idiotic daughter (Stephanie McMahon) and his doofus son-in-law (Triple H) and the rest of his stupid family.”

Punk talked about other wrestlers getting their faces put on collector cups and Wrestlemania posters and appearing on Jimmy Fallon and Conan O’Brien.

It was classic. Pure Punk. Outstanding.

CM PUNK

The firing of Kevin Nash should have been a relief for CM Punk. Instead, The Straight Edge Superstar is looking at it as another piece of Triple H’s conspiracy against him.
